Emergency landing in Porto after Jet2 pilot faints on flight from Manchester to Madeira

The pilot of a Boeing 757 is described as having fainted today on a flight from Manchester to Funchal, Madeira, prompting an emergency landing in Porto.

According to Lusa, the landing strip was closed for 33 minutes after the plane came down, principally to give time for the pilot to receive medical assistance.

He was transported to hospital, writes Correio da ManhĂŁ, adding that the landing was made in safety without any further incidents or injuries.

It is not clear yet whether passengers then continued their flight, or whether they had to disembark and await a new crew.
