Thousands of people gathered in Albufeira for the 22nd edition of ‘Festas do Pescador’, an event that aims to celebrate the history of the town which was once a thriving fishing village before it became the bustling tourist town that it is today.
Held last weekend (September 6-8), the event featured delicious food and live music.
Albufeira mayor José Carlos Rolo describes the event as an attempt to “recover our roots, keep our traditions alive and pay tribute to the town’s fishermen and families”.
As he explains: “The event is an excellent opportunity to gather the Albufeira community and show those who visit us a bit more about the history of the municipality and its excellent gastronomy, expertly cooked by our local associations and complemented with an excellent entertainment programme”.
