A 41-year-old woman, described as a dancer, has been placed under house arrest after stabbing her husband with a knife in Alvor, near Portimão.
The attack happened on Monday, October 7 when the Brazilian couple “met by chance” in the garden of a private condominium, says PJ criminal police in a statement to the press.
They were reportedly in the process of getting divorced and were known to argue frequently over their underage child.
After getting into another argument, the woman attacked her 33-year-old husband with a 10-centimetre knife in the abdomen.
The man was badly hurt and “only survived because he was quickly treated and operated on at Portimão Hospital”, the police force said, adding that his condition is now considered stable.
The woman was identified and arrested by GNR police who seized the crime weapon and investigated the scene of the crime.
The investigation was taken over by PJ police who placed the woman under house arrest on suspicion of attempted murder while she awaits trial.
