I read Pat the Expat’s article with amusement and reality (October 3 edition). My husband and I, resulting from an inheritance, spend a few months of the year in comfort at a property close to Estoi. Our official residence is Canada.
I agree with Pat’s observations, and this best kept secret is no longer valid. I hope we can still live peacefully here, with no worries of a major change of lifestyle.
On a musical note, we spent the past weekend in your hometown (Santa Bárbara de Nexe) listening to Melissa and Nelson – what a combination. Bought both their CDs. And organisation (of NexeMostra) was superb, lots of souvenirs and home-grown produce to be purchased.
Thanks for your article. I do enjoy my weekly newspaper. It suits my purpose and it has all the information I need to keep in touch with the activities in the Algarve.
