Bringing smiles to the elderly

The 15th annual “Christmas Shoeboxes for the Elderly” campaign has been a tremendous success this year with over 250 boxes collected and still being distributed.

Due to the generosity of this year’s donors, the Silves-based family charity Castelo de Sonhos was able to reach many more elderly folk this year.

The organisation thanks everyone who contributed and, in particular, those who helped co-ordinate collection and delivery: Paul and Pasi Jokinen-Carter of Natural Joki Flow for Holistic Treatments; Mike Wasinski, Frank Remiatte and Nada Louw from Portimão; Donna McFadden and friends at the 3rd Annual Guia Autumn/Christmas Fair; The folk from Balaia Golf Village, Kathleen Kuys from Boliqueime and friends; members of the Rotary Club of Silves; the “Ladies Who Knit” for donating knitted blankets, hats, scarves, gloves and socks; the volunteers at the Castelo de Sonhos charity shop for saving donated items throughout the year for the shoeboxes, and Holiday Inn in Armação de Pêra for their support.
