Montepio bank has formally appointed Pedro Leitão as the new CEO.
The Bank of Portugal had already given the green light to the appointment of the former director of Banco Atlântico Europa. Carlos Tavares, Chairman of Montepio, stated in a letter sent out to staff that he was “certain that his professional and personal qualities and his spirit of mission are reasons to make us optimistic and bring confidence to this new chapter” following a 2019 that had been “challenging and difficult”.
