Covid-19: Alcoutim cancels two major spring events due to coronavirus concerns

The coronavirus pandemic is forcing everyone to take exceptional measures and Alcoutim Council is no exception, having decided to play it safe by cancelling two of its major spring events – the Festival do Contrabando (Contraband Festival) and Feira dos Doces D’Avó (Grandmother’s Sweets Festival).

The events were due to take place between March 27 and 29 and April 10 and 11, respectively, but have been cancelled due to the “strong risks of infection” given the large number of people of different nationalities that they attract.

The council lamented the decision it had to make but asked for people’s understanding.

Alcoutim is also one of the many municipalities in the Algarve which has already approved its own Covid-19 contingency plans.
