Faro Airport was filled to the brim on Wednesday (March 18) with tourists in a race against time to get home before border control measures become even stricter due to the coronavirus outbreak.
According to SIC, there were queues of hundreds of people trying to find a flight back to their country.
Governments around the world have advised their citizens to return home now due to the imminent closure of airports and borders – a task made difficult by the high number of cancelled flights, high fares and ever-changing travel advice.
This mass exodus around the world has left several holidaymakers stranded, waiting in line for hours to find a flight home.
