A recently created online petition calling for the urgent construction of a footbridge to Tavira’s Cabanas Island has already amassed over 650 signatures.
Local citizens say the footbridge would “substantially reduce pollution” to the Ria Formosa by providing an alternative to the hundreds of daily boat trips used to take people to the island.
