Michelin-star chefs serve ‘tapas and beer’ at Mar Shopping Algarve

Michelin-star chefs José Domingos, Leonel Pereira and Louis Anjos are serving tapas along with a Estrella Damm beer “for just €4” until January 3 at their restaurants at Mar Shopping Algarve in Loulé.

The ‘Tapas Gourmet Estrella Damm’ festival aims to be a showcase of fine dining while also attracting clients to Mar Shopping’s Algarve Chef Experience restaurants which, like so many others, have been hit hard by the pandemic.

At Thai Brás, Leonel Pereira is serving Portugal’s beloved codfish dish ‘Bacalhau à Brás’ but with a “twist”.

For those who love Italian food, Louis Anjos at My Pastta is serving “bruschetta three ways” – mushrooms and ‘queijo da ilha’ (a traditional cheese from the Azores); tomato and ‘presunto’; and fresh goat cheese served on a rosemary focaccia.

José Domingos at The Portuguese Lab is serving a unique combination of toasted ‘bolo lêvedo’ (a sweet bread from the Azores), citrus-marinated mackerel fillet, cabbage salad and roasted shrimp.
Estrella Damm brand manager Vanessa Germano said: “Estrella Damm has already partnered with some of the best national chefs and so the Algarve Chef Experience seemed like the ideal opportunity to create new experiences for food lovers.”

She hopes the initiative will provide a spark for the restaurants, “especially during these difficult times” that the sector is going through.
