A 40-year-old woman and a 10-year-old child were rescued on Saturday afternoon after being caught in a strong rip current at Praia da Amoreira in Aljezur.
The woman and child, described as Belgian, were holding on to a bodyboard when they were dragged to a hard-to-reach rocky area south of the beach, where they were rescued by Aljezur firefighters and members of the ‘SeaWatch’ project.
They did not suffer injuries or require medical care.
