Lisbon City Council, headed by mayor Carlos Moedas, has announced a series of measures to support the Ukrainian community, whether current residents of the capital, or incoming refugees.
āWith the heart of all Lisbon inhabitants (ālisboetasā) we want to help in everything that is necessaryā, he said today. āWe cannot have any hesitationā¦ā
And thus a centre for temporary shelter for refugees is being prepared, as well as teams that will coordinate food, lodging, clothes and medication.
In the immediate short-term, a canteen is opening in Monsanto for Ukrainians that have found themselves āstuck in Portugalā, while the centre for refugees will be opening shortly in the Municipal Police headquarters.
