Fatacil considered “biggest event of its kind south of Tejo River”
Organisers are promising that this year’s Fatacil fair – due to take place in Lagoa between August 19 and 28 – is shaping up to be the “best ever”.
The last edition of Fatacil held in 2019 – the 2020 and 2021 editions were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic – was hailed by the local council at the time as the best ever in its 40-year history, having attracted over 195,000 people, a 10% increase compared to 2018.
However, the local council is confident that these numbers can be beaten.
“We are preparing Fatacil 2022 with the goal of making it the best ever. It is the only way we can resume our biggest event and ensure it will be a success,” said Lagoa Mayor Luís Encarnação, adding that the musical line-up is finalised and will include performances for “all tastes and ages”.
The only musical act confirmed so far is Resistência, a Portuguese ‘supergroup’ made up of some of Portugal’s best-known musicians and singers.
But there is much more to enjoy at Fatacil than live music, such as stalls showcasing local businesspeople and craftspeople, a selection of food stalls, and equestrian events. Many consider it to be the “biggest event of its kind south of the Tejo River”.
