The “Heritage without Borders” programme features 18 shows, including music, dance, theatre and cinema, until December 2nd
Starting this Sunday with the Baile da Rosa (Rose Ball) at the Sagres Fortress, the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve (DRCAlg) presents the 9th edition of DiVaM, a cultural programme designed to promote and enhance regional monuments.
Held from September 18th until December 2nd, this year’s edition follows the theme “Heritage without Borders”. The programme comprises 18 shows, including music, theatre, dance and cinema. It will be hosted in three historic locations – the Roman Ruins of Milreu, the Sagres Fortress and the Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Guadalupe.
Regional Director of Culture for the Algarve, Adriana Nogueira, says this programme will “allow the public to discover historic locations and heritage through the shows”. Adding that, “each spectacle has been created specifically for each location”, including “Cinema in the Ruins” screenings.
“This year, we have 18 activities taking place in September, October, November and on December 2nd. There are eight [in the Roman Ruins] in Milreu, five in the Chapel [of Our Lady of Guadalupe] and five in Sagres [in the Fortress]”, she explained.
Adriana Nogueira highlighted the event’s impact on promoting cultural associations and supporting the development of projects, as well as the mobility it provides to artists, allowing them to perform in areas other than those they are based in.
The complete programme is available on the organisation’s website.
