The “Queijo Saloio” cheese factory in Torres Vedras, owned by the Queijos Santiago group, is closing next Monday, a source has told Lusa, requesting the intervention of the Ministry of Labour. The 60 workers employed at the factory have been told there will be a job waiting for them at the company’s factory in Mafra, 30 kms away – and there will be transport laid on, although it could ‘disappear’ at any point as it is not a stipulation of work contracts. The reason given for closing the factory is insolvency.
