A 48-year-old man was arrested by PJ police after being caught red-handed trying to exchange €5,000 in fake American dollar notes at a cash exchange office on Monday in Portimão.
In a statement to the press, the police force said that the man, described only as “foreign”, is due to appear before a judge.
PJ police added they will continue investigating to identify other potential counterfeiters.
