Public prosecutors insist former student must be charged with ‘training for terrorism’

Public prosecutors are appealing the sentence handed down to former engineering student João Carreira, insisting he should be convicted of ‘training for terrorism’. João, 19, is serving the remainder of a two year nine month sentence in a psychiatric unit. But prosecutors are not satisfied that he was ‘absolved of terrorism’ altogether. According to SIC, they are seeking a longer jail term (no less than three and a half years), to be served in a jail for the unimputable.
