João Sousa, Portugal’s best men’s tennis player of all time, has announced he will stop competing ‘for now0 due to a back injury. Writing over social media, he said: “I wanted to share with you that due to a back problem, that I have been [suffering from] since the beginning of the year, I decided to stop competing and try to recover 100%”. Currently 260th in the ATP ranking, Sousa drops out of the top 300 for the first time since August 2010, after having recorded nine consecutive losses on the professional circuit.
