The secretaries of state for labour and sport have said that Portugal has “wide open doors” for young emigrés and Lusodescendants who want to “make a life” in the country. Speaking at the opening of the 10th edition of the European Meeting of Young Lusodescendants, Miguel Fontes, secretary of state for labour, and João Paulo Correia (sport), stressed the establishment of talent is a priority of the Government and that Portugal “is today a competitive country”, capable of attracting qualified young people. “The doors are wide open for anyone who wants to make a life in Portugal,” said Fontes, citing the over-inflation increase of the national minimum wage as a potential draw.
