A woman, aged 67, has been arrested by Aveiro’s PJ police on suspicion of having started a forest fire that went on to consume 14 hectares last weekend. The woman has been described as being arrested ‘without the benefit of being caught in the act’. She is suspected of having started the fire, in Boialvo, Anadia, with the use of ‘direct flame’ (a lighter/ matches), in the context of “emotional upset’. The fire was tackled by firefighters and water-carrying aircraft and brought to a conclusion relatively quickly, after ripping through ‘around 14 hectares’.
