Illegal discharge at Sagres beach under investigation

An illegal discharge affected Sagres’ Blue Flag Praia da Mareta temporarily on Saturday, sending several holidaymakers packing due to the ‘unsupportable stench’. According to reports, the local council is now trying to find out who/ what was responsible and exactly where what appears to have been raw effluent came from. As of today (Sunday), social media posts see the beach returned to its usual pristine Blue Flag state.
