At the same time that Portugal’s national government has imploded, so too has the regional government of the Azores. When its budget for 2024 failed to pass, the PSD/ CDS coalition wanted to present another one, but President Marcelo has ruled against this, meaning elections have to be called. A date is still under consideration but likely to come in February. Meantime, Marcelo has called a new Council of State (for December 11) to discuss the crisis.
