The Local Community of Common Land of Covas do Barroso, in Boticas, is said to be putting the finishing touches to a bid for a ‘providência cautelar’ (judicial embargo) to stop British mining company Savannah Resources from encroaching on land to which it has no claim. This is a wrangle that has been going on for months, if not years, with Savannah saying it is doing nothing of the sort, but locals attesting otherwise.
