The average annual household expenditure in Portugal was €24,190 in 2022/2023, Statistics Portugal (INE) said today. According to the provisional results of the Household Expenditure Survey 2022/2023, around two-thirds of the average household expenditure was concentrated on costs associated with housing (39.1%), food (12.9%) and transport (12.4%). Households with dependent children spend an average of €8,861 more per year than households without dependent children, which translates into an average monthly expenditure of another €738 per child.
