“Operation Christmas”, designed to try and save lives on Portugal’s roads, is having an uphill start. Deaths have been occuring thick and fast, with already 13 registered since last weekend. The latest, according to reports at least, came in Sesimbra where a “badly calculated moment of overtaking” caused two motorbikes to collide head-on, killing both drivers. Authorities continue to appeal to drivers to ‘take it easy’; abide by best driving practices and do their utmost to remain alive for Christmas and the New Year.
