New calls for people to vaccinate against Covid-19

A number of medical voices are calling for the population to ensure re-vaccination against Covid-19 due to a new variant (JN.1) that is able to infect those previously infected by other strains, and/ or people whose vaccinations were administered some time ago. The calls do not explain that current vaccines are not in fact ‘tweaked’ to combat this new variant; nor do they acknowledge that even people who have been vaccinated against Covid-19 can still be ‘infected’ by the virus. The mantra remains: “People should not distrust the Covid-19 vaccine, just as they do not distrust other vaccines. The vaccination plan must be complied with”. Again this is not exactly the situation: vaccination against Covid-19 is discretionary (always has been). It is not an obligation to be complied with.
