At least 31 people died victims of accidents with tractors in 2023 – 13 less than died in 2022. A study undertaken by tabloid Correio da Manhã admits it has not included people who may have died in hospital following an accident with a tractor. In the last five years, 229 people have lost their lives due to mishaps with tractors- the majority of these involving the vehicle ‘flipping over’, killing their drivers this way. GNR police have been actively trying to raise awareness of best tractor driving practices over the last three years, in which fatalities have steadily been declining.
