Bullfighter who starved 18 greyhounds handed suspended jail sentence

João Moura, the ‘legendary’ bullfighting horseman nationally reviled for the condition in which he kept his animals, has been handed a four year eight month jail term, suspended, after standing trial on 18 counts of animal mistreatment. It is not clear at this point whether Moura will accept his conviction, or appeal. SOS Animal had been calling for an example to be made of his actions.
