Three men arrested for selling drugs to tourists in downtown Faro

Three men were arrested on Wednesday (January 24) on suspicion of selling drugs to tourists in Faro’s downtown area.

In a statement to the press, PSP police say the arrests followed a “preventive patrol” in the area.

The officers reportedly “were able to ascertain that the three men primarily targeted tourists, approaching them and asking if they wished to buy drugs,” it explains.

The operation led to the confiscation of “several doses of hashish and marijuana” which were “packaged and ready to be sold to consumers,” as well as EU and non-EU money and several accessories linked to the preparation and packaging of the drugs.

The three men, described as “foreigners,” appeared before a judge and are now bound by ‘Termo de Identidade e Residência’ – meaning they must report to police whenever necessary and cannot change their address or leave their area of residence for longer than five days without communicating where they are going.
