Army preparing combat vehicle platoon to join NATO mission in Slovakia

The Portuguese army began preparing a platoon of combat vehicles in Santa Margarida today to join the NATO Multinational Force to be sent to Slovakia. This is “the first” national deployment of these vehicles to a theatre of operations, Brigadier General Luís Calmeiro, commander of the Mechanised Brigade, told Lusa, presiding over the ceremony at the Cavalry Barracks to begin preparing the force for this mission – with training taking place at the Santa Margarida military camp in Constância (Santarém) over the next six months.
