Loulé pledges €100,000 to support local filmmaking

Loulé seeks to support local audiovisual projects

The Municipal Council of Loulé has created a €100,000 fund to support local audiovisual productions.

Entitled ‘Audiovisual Production Support Programme – Loulé 2024’, the initiative is “aimed at supporting film and audiovisual productions in the municipality, promoting the work of local technicians, the development of the sector in the region, and the promotion of the territory at the national and international levels,” boosting the local economy in the process, the local council says.

The programme is divided into two categories: ‘Industry’ and ‘Territory’. The first is directed at projects in which “50% of the technical/artistic team are residents in the Algarve”, the idea being to support local talent and make sure they have opportunities to work in their area of expertise in the region, while the second is aimed at projects focusing on the “territory of Loulé,” helping promote the municipality.

Fiction feature films, documentary feature films, medium and feature-length animations TV series, or other audiovisual formats can be pitched, with the €100,000 due to be allocated to five projects.

Candidates can submit their proposals until February 29 through the Loulé Film Office via email (film@cm-loule.pt) or by mail to Praça da República 8104-001, Loulé.

The guidelines for this program can be found on the local council’s website.
