… featuring Portuguese pianist Ana Beatriz Ferreira and Slovenian violinist Lana Trotovšek
After a well-deserved pause during January, the Amigos de Música announce two promising concerts for February, taking place in the Auditorium of Os Agostos, near Santa Bárbara de Nexe.
On February 20 and 22, the Amigos de Música are welcoming again Ana Beatriz Ferreira, a talented Portuguese pianist that the Amigos have supported in the past through the AAMSL Young Portuguese Music Scholarship programme launched in 1994.
On February 20, Ana Beatriz Ferreira will play 10 pieces from Romeo and Juliet by S. Prokofiev, the famous Clair de Lune by Debussy and two works by Frédéric Chopin and Franz Schubert.
On February 22, Ana Beatriz will be joined by London-based Slovenian violinist Lana Trotovšek to play a special CD launch programme to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the brilliant Portuguese composer Joly Braga Santos (1924-1988), besides two other works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and a violin sonata by Maurice Ravel.
Ana Beatriz Ferreira is an engaged soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. She is winner of several prizes and awards, including 1st Prize at Maria Cristina Pimentel National Competition, 1st Prize at Lopes Graça National Competition and several Merit and Excellence Awards.
Ana Beatriz graduated from the Lisbon National Conservatory of Music and holds both a bachelor’s degree in music (Honours) and a master’s degree in performance from the Royal College of Music in London.
One of her most notable achievements is her extensive work on the Piano Concerto op 52 by the renowned Portuguese composer Joly Braga Santos, which she premiered in London in 2015 and Cardiff and with which she already performed on tour in Portugal.
She is described as “a truly superb interpreter” by the critic Robert Matthew-Walker from The Classical Source. Her career has led her to perform in several venues in Portugal, Spain, the UK and Canada.
Lana Trotovšek is a Slovenian soloist and chamber musician who has performed around the world. Lana studied in London at Trinity College of Music with Vasko Vasilev, Boris Brovtsyn, Rivka Golani, and at the Royal College of Music with Itzhak Rashkovsky.

Lana plays on a violin made by Pietro Antonio Dalla Costa from Treviso in 1750.
