Trucking companies report ‘heavy losses’ due to French protests

Portuguese trucking companies are reporting heavy losses due to the chaotic situation in France. Road blocks set up by protesting farmers have stranded thousands of Portuguese trucks. ANTRAM’s Matias de Almeida estimates there are between 10,000 to 15,000 Portuguese lorries, “or even more”, in limbo, and is hugely concerned that the protests appear to be ‘spreading’. If blockades extend to Spain and Portugal (see main menu), Almeida considers the situation could become “catastrophic”.
