Firefighters protest today in Lisbon

After a brief period of excellent press, minister for interior administration José Luís Carneiro, has had nothing but bad press: frustrated police syndicates have accused him of ‘not speaking the truth’ and misrepresenting data, and firefighters complain they have been “forgotten and ignored”. Operation ‘Carreira’ (meaning professional career) is taking place outside the ministry at 4pm this afternoon. It is described as a “collective of firefighters not connected to any formal structures of representation”. The group will be protesting for “valorisation and dignification” of their profession, and for the promise of a better future.
