Algarve accountant accused of aiding illegal immigration

The Public Prosecutor’s Office in Faro has accused a 66-year-old accountant of 75 counts of aiding illegal immigration and document forgery in the Algarve between 2019 and 2020.

The accountant is said to have issued fake invoices through the Tax Authority’s website, receiving payments ranging from €100 to €1,300. Her goal was to help immigrants who didn’t have enough income to qualify for family reunification by falsifying their income statements.
