Portugal’s SNS State health service has announced the launch of a funding line for the introduction of artificial intelligence tools in dermatological diagnoses. “Applied to an area where access to answers is difficult, dermatology, the adoption of artificial intelligence tools, duly validated and supervised by dermatologists, is the right way to guarantee faster and more accurate diagnoses for SNS patients,” the organisation said in a statement. The choice of application is being put out to public tender and one of the conditions is that it has already been scientifically validated, Tomás Pessoa e Costa, a dermatologist who is leading the project, told Lusa.
