Coimbra company protects 300 satellites from space junk

Neuraspace, based in Coimbra, has created a tool that allows it to accurately detect the risk that the 300 or so satellites it monitors on a daily basis face of collision with space junk. Speaking to Lusa, the company’s business development manager Carlos Cerqueira explained that the software created around a year ago gathers as much data as possible and combines artificial intelligence and machine learning, allowing for a much higher degree of precision than traditional methods. Neuraspace leads one of the Mobilising Agendas of the Plan for Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) – the “AI Fights Space Debris, C626449889-00463050” project – with a budget of €25 million.
