Algarve showcases nature, culture, food and wines at Lisbon’s BTL

The Algarve stand will aim to showcase the “essence of the region”

The Algarve tourism board (RTA) will be promoting the region’s food, wine, nature, and culture at the BTL tourism fair, which starts on Wednesday and runs until Sunday at Lisbon’s FIL fairground.

Eighteen hotels and tour operators and the region’s 16 municipalities will be represented at the stand, which will aim to showcase the “essence of the region”.

The focus will be on promoting all the things that set the Algarve apart as a tourism destination, from its growing wine industry and its delicious food to its potential for nature tourism, such as cycling or hiking.

Some of the region’s biggest projects will also be in the spotlight, such as the bid for UNESCO recognition for the Algarvensis Geopark, which brings together the boroughs of Loulé, Silves and Albufeira, or the Algarve Golden Terroir, a joint initiative by the councils of Albufeira, Lagoa, Lagos and Portimão to promote locally produced wines.

The presentation of the Algarve Walking Season, a programme which brings together four major hiking events in the Algarve, also promises to be another standout.

Each municipality in the Algarve will also host their own presentations, aiming to feature each of their strengths, while RTA will lead a presentation of the tourism figures of 2023 and its expectations for 2024.

The BTL fair will be open to the public on Friday (5pm to 11pm), Saturday (12pm to 11pm) and Sunday (12pm to 8pm).
