Fireman dies trying to save beloved pet

Firefighters in Bombarral, as well as the area’s wider community, are mourning the death of fireman Jorge Marques who died on Saturday trying to save his pet dog Loki – who also perished. Loki had become ‘stuck to an electrical cable’ (circumstances still unexplained. It seems he was in the process of being electrocuted). Jorge Marques, in trying to free the dog from the current, received a massive shock himself, which killed him. Friends have attested to the love Marques had for his pet animal, saying ‘he didn’t hesitate to try and save him’, with absolutely tragic consequences.
