A mix of music, dancing and making new friends – the first of many! That’s exactly what Home Care Algarve aimed to achieve when they arranged their Musical Memories event which took place on February 7 at Ferreiras Football Club.
The event was open to anyone, all ages and mobilities. It is well known that music can be an instant source of happiness and evoke many memories, especially in those with dementia. Similarly, the desire to move or dance to the music is beneficial and brings a general feeling of well-being.
At the event, old-time classics were sung by the amazing Toni and crooner Tom. “People danced (even those who needed a little help and support), laughed and thoroughly enjoyed themselves – we will definitely do this again,” said Home Care Algarve’s owner Beverley Rogers.
Home Care Algarve is a licensed care provider and are passionate about providing care to those that need it. Although based in Albufeira, care is provided in the client’s homes throughout the Algarve, and it can range from daily visits and help with shopping or cooking, to full-time live in care, depending upon the client’s requirements.
“It is through our work with our clients that we could see just how isolating being unwell can be, and I want to facilitate and create opportunities such as this inaugural event, to give our clients the best of times”, says Beverley.
