Former PSD minister of economy, Álvaro Santos Pereira has been appointed chief economist at the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). In a statement issued today, the OECD said the appointment will take effect on June 1. The role will see Santos Pereira (who has worked at the OECD for several years) “leading economic analysis and policy advice to support members in optimising the strength and quality of economic development and growth in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic and in the face of the social and economic impacts of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, as well as in the context of the structural transformations needed to ensure the green and digital transitions”, said the statement.
