Easter to be even busier than last year in Algarve

Bookings have surpassed those registered in 2023

This Easter is shaping up to be even busier than last year’s in the Algarve.

According to regional tourism officials, bookings have so far surpassed those registered by this time last year, leaving them with “very good expectations” for the upcoming festive season.

The feedback from hotels and other accommodation units in the Algarve has been quite positive so far, Algarve tourism chief André Gomes told Lusa news agency, adding that the optimism relates to both Portuguese and foreign tourists.

The sentiment was echoed by the president of the Algarve hotelier association (AHETA), Hélder Martins, who stated that most of the association’s members are reporting booking levels “equal or above” last year’s.

Martins added that families account for most of the holidaymakers who seek the Algarve during this festive period, although a portion of the bookings are also being attributed to groups of foreigners who usually travel to the Algarve to play golf during this time of year.

Portuguese are nonetheless expected to represent most of the region’s Easter tourists, followed by British, French, Irish and Spanish holidaymakers. André Gomes also noted the “growing number” of Americans travelling to the Algarve.
