Freedom Race returns to Portimão

Part of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution celebrations, the Corrida da Liberdade is open to participants of all ages and levels.

Portimão’s annual Corrida da Liberdade (Freedom Race) returns this April 25 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.

Open to participants of all ages and levels, the event will feature a 10km run, a 5k walk and a children’s race.

The celebrations start at 09h00 with the Children’s Race, starting and finishing in the riverside area. This first event is aimed at children between the ages of 5 and 15 and offers five routes adjusted to each age group.

The main events of this edition will be the 10 km run and the 5 km walk, both starting at 10h00.

Registration for these events will be carried out in two phases. The first one is until March 24, during which registration for the run costs €10 and €8 for the walk.

In the second phase, between March 25 and April 24, the costs will be €12 and €10, respectively. As for the Children’s Race, registration has a symbolic fee of €3.

The Athlete Kits will be distributed on April 23 and 24, for which participants must present proof of registration and a valid ID.
