Miguel Oliveira optimistic about Portugal GP: “I’m always very fast in Portimão”

Miguel Oliveira is confident he can put up a good performance in the Algarve

Portuguese star rider Miguel Oliveira has high hopes for the upcoming Portugal MotoGP Grand Prix, a competition he won in 2020.

Portimão is a circuit that I’m always very fast at, even if the motorbike isn’t perfect, I can hide its lack of performance a bit. Let’s see, I’m going with an open mind so that things go well,” the 29-year-old told Rádio Comercial ahead of the race.

The Portugal GP will take place between March 22 and 24 at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão and will be the second race of the MotoGP season. In the first race in Qatar, Oliveira finished in 15th place at a time when he is still adapting to his new team, Trackhouse Racing, and his new Aprilia bike.

“I am feeling well, I have adapted well to the new bike. We have greater potential, but we are still trying to understand how to make the most of everything. But we will get there,” the Portuguese rider added.

“All negative moments serve to strengthen us. Being a father to two children is just that, surviving at the battlefront. If you can raise two sons, you can do anything,” he joked.
