Climate activists launched a new attack in the capital today – the 6th in the last two weeks – throwing red paint over the façade of EDP’s headquarters, and daubing the slogan “close gas stations” on the bridge to MAAT (the museum of modern art, architecture and technology). The group has since complained that two of its activists were arrested “for simply taking photographs”. The young activists’ cellphones and shoes were removed during their arrest, which Climáximo has described as “a crime against liberty“. The group “is calling for the closure of fossil-fuel power stations later this year, through the adaptation of the electricity grid and a renewable energy mix“, explains Lusa. A quick look at the comments of Climáximo’s Facebook page shows there is little support for the group’s crusade.
