The president of the Constitutional Court has today defended that the Constitution will only be “truly fulfilled” when a “freer, fairer and more fraternal Portugal” is achieved in its preamble, warning of “threats to freedom and dignity” in society. José João Abrantes was speaking at the opening session of the conference ‘Justice before and after the 25th of April‘, which is taking place today at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, commemorating 50 years since Portugal became a republic, and broke with decades of dictatorship.
