FENPROF, Portugal’s national federation of teachers, is sticking to its guns about a strike by IT teachers, in spite of a last minute pledge of computers from the outgoing government. The €6.5 million made available at the 11th hour to purchase new computers (to replace broken ones) and ‘guarantee pupils will have the equipment to take 9th grade assessment tests and exams in digital format’ in two months’ time has been dismissed as showmanship: the unions do not believe the computers will be delivered on time, explain reports.
