PSD and the Liberal Initiative (IL) have not reached an agreement to form a government. In a joint statement released today, the two parties said that they “will not go ahead at this time with the conclusion of broad agreements, including those on the formation of a new government”. However, they stressed that the decision was made “in a climate of great openness and with full respect for the principle of good faith, in a very demanding framework that requires all political agents to have a high sense of responsibility”.

Leader of Iniciativa Liberal, Rui Rocha, blasted the PSD also, for voting AGAINST his party's proposals to ditch the entire Mais Habitação programme, on the basis that it would cost €2 billion per year. He accused the government of "hypocrisy"... image: Lusa
