PSP police were called to the Israeli embassy in Lisbon last night due to receipt of a ‘suspicious envelope’. The news was relayed by the embassy over ‘X’, formerly Twitter. The suspicions appear to have been unfounded however*, as the post ended with the sentence: “All embassy staff are safe”. Israel is in a difficult position this week, following the killing of a number of foreign aid workers, in a clearly marked vehicle, travelling on an authorised route in Gaza. Even the more committed supporters of Israel are now saying ‘enough is enough’. Demonstrations in Israel, by citizens, have been saying as much for many weeks.
