Jenny Clarke is nine high and rising. The Association for Protection Animals Algarve’s president has had a worrying week. “It has been uncannily quiet on the canine front.” Just as well, with Zélia’s cat-napping sessions and ongoing ‘SNiP’ taking up APAA’s time.
“There have been several problematical incidents.” Jenny is frowning. A man took his two un-SNiP’d dogs across to Spain. The female unfortunately got off her lead, apparently coming into season. “Unfortunately, the target for unwanted attention from male dogs in the area. Why don’t people see the sense? Spaying and neutering are a professional vet’s domain, resulting in a healthy, active dog and a happy life.”
It appears some people take SNiP personally. Attacking their masculinity or femininity. Sharing Victorian ideals about their pets. A French Bulldog’s owner refused to have it SNiP’d, believing, being a special breed, it would be more difficult, cost more time and money. All dogs, no matter what breed, are equal biologically inside and out. Fact. It does cost money. But so does the ongoing care of nine puppies who have reached their two-month stage. Hungry, growing and more care.
Owners were surprised that their two dogs had mated. Behind closed doors! Pregnancy reported earlier a better solution for all. Pup-update to follow.
